AiguaTiming System
The AiguaTiming system is made out of a single app for both the iPad and iPhone/iPod devices. Within this single app there are four units which can work on these devices as described below.
AiguaMaster
(iPad)
The Master unit is the central control unit of the AiguaTiming system. All other units must connect to it through your wireless network to work. The Master unit only runs on the iPad and it will load automatically when the AiguaTiming app is started on an iPad.
AiguaStart (iPod/iPhone)The Start unit is designed for the Starter Official of a swimming event. With the Start unit a Starter Official can initiate the race for all the AiguaTiming units currently connected to a Master unit, guaranteeing timing accuracy.
AiguaDisplay (iPod/iPhone)
The Display unit is used to display the race results in real time by connecting an external display to an iPod's dock connector. All race results are sent by the Master unit to the Display unit as they happen.
AiguaChrono (iPod/iPhone)
The Chrono unit is used by each Lane Timer to start the backup timer and mark each swimmer's laps. Each lap is sent automatically to the Master unit for immediate feedback to the event judges and storage.Important
AiguaTiming is a very specialized piece of software designed specifically for swimming competitions. Although AiguaTiming is very easy to use it does have some specific requirements and procedures that must be followed to use it correctly. On this web site you will find detailed information on every aspect of its operation, but if you have any questions please contact support at support@johncode.com.AiguaTiming is offered on the iTunes App Store as a free app so you can test it thoroughly before you decide to make a final purchase. It is specially important that you test your WiFi network with several AiguaTiming units before you decide to purchase any AiguaTiming Store items. The AiguaTiming Store within the app will allow you to unlock all the AiguaTiming features and buy import/export modules for your meet information and results files.
Although the AiguaTiming system requires multiple iPad/iPod/iPhone devices to be used, you can install the app on all of them for free. Only the device that will run the AiguaMaster unit (an iPad) must purchase in-app store items for the AiguaTiming system to run in full.
Timing Details
AiguaTiming has the following specifications and limitations regarding event timing:- Timer accuracy of 1/100th of a second with automatically synchronized clocks between all units.
- Maximum of 10 AiguaChrono units.
- Maximum of 1 AiguaStart unit.
- Maximum of 1 AiguaDisplay unit (currently).
Requirements
Due to the professional nature of this app the following requirements should be followed to guarantee proper operation:- Only works on a Wi-Fi network.
- It is highly recommended that it is used on a private Wi-Fi network, encrypted, and limited to AiguaTiming units only.
- Requires at least one import/export format module to be purchased through the Aigua In-App store for full use.
- Does not allow the entry of any meet information by hand, it is all imported/exported from/to external files.
- Using an iPhone is strongly discouraged during actual meets unless you deactivate the cell phone. You can do so by turning on Airplane Mode and then reactivate the Wi-Fi.
- This app will eat up your device's battery fast since it keeps the Wi-Fi almost constantly on and temporarily disables the auto-off feature of the phone. Please make sure you get out of the application once you are done using it or turn off the device manually.
